Ashanti Gold SC midfield powerhouse, Appiah McCarthy has been ruled out of action for two months following his injury in the match against Legon Cities FC in the Ghana Premier League.

The talisman of the Miners earned a starting role last Friday when the team visited the Accra Sports Stadium to take on the matchday 10 opponent.

Midway through the first half, Appiah McCarthy had to be substituted after picking up what looked like a painful injury.

According to Ashanti Gold SC medical doctor George Chidi, the midfielder will need at least six weeks to recover from what he suspects could be a lateral collateral ligament injury.

“He can't play next match after the examination it's most likely he sustained lateral collateral ligament injury. I’m expecting to receive the MRI Scan by today but he could be out for 6 to 8 weeks,” Dr. George Chidi told Oyerepa FM on Monday.

This comes as a massive blow for Ashanti Gold SC due to the importance of the player to the team.

They will now hope he recovers within the given timeline to help their quest to win the Ghana Premier League title at the end of the season.
