A delightful second-half performance from Legon Cities FC on Friday evening has seen the team beating Ashanti Gold SC 5-2 to bag all three points from their Ghana Premier League match.

Nicknamed the Royals, the team now based in the capital hosted the Miners at the Accra Sports Stadium today to fight for three points on matchday 10 of the 2020/2021 Ghanaian top-flight league campaign.

Following a strong start to the match, Ashanti Gold SC took the lead after just eleven minutes of play when attacker Yaw Annor found the back of the net after goalkeeper Fatau Dauda had committed an error.

Pegged behind, Legon Cities FC quickly regrouped and got back into the game with a goal of their own four minutes later when Nasiru Moro scored with a stunning strike.

In a pulsating end to the first half, Yaw Annor’s second goal to restore the lead for Ashanti Gold SC was canceled by an equalizer from winger Jonah Attuquaye to ensure it stayed level at the break.

Resuming the second half to play as the better side, Legon Cities FC scored three times through a strike from Baba Mahama plus a brace from David Cudjoe.

With the visiting team unable to find answers to those goals, the hosts have cruised to a morale-boosting 5-2 win at the end of the 90 minutes to amass their second three points of the season.

The win sees Legon Cities FC climbing out of the relegation zone to occupy the 15th spot on the Ghana Premier League table.
