Ashanti Gold SC on Sunday afternoon draw 2-2 against Karela United at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season.

Touted as one of the favourites to win this season’s top-flight league title, the Miners hosted the Anyinase-based club this afternoon in a Matchday 1 fixture.

Following a slow start to the match, Karela United capitalized and took the lead in the 4th minute courtesy of a strike from star man Diawisie Taylor.

Now trailing, Ashanti Gold SC started to play with more purpose in search of an equalizer to get back into the game.

In the 23rd minute, the efforts of the home team paid off when Appiah McCarthy’s free-kick hit the back of the net after a wicked deflection.

With the game level, both teams played some good football as they tried to score again to gain the lead.

Having enjoyed the better of possession in the final minutes of the half, experienced striker Hans Kwoffie scored with a brilliant header to give Ashanti Gold SC a deserved lead.

In the second half of many goal scoring opportunities, Samuel Ofori scored in the 59th minute to draw level for Karela United.

With no more goals from there on, Ashanti Gold SC has been held to a draw at home.
