The Need For Planning Of Events In Advance

It has been identified in Africa in general and Ghana in particular that the reason why most of the events we organise do not meet international standards is our inability to plan and prepare for the event in advance. Markus Garvey once said that “tomorrow belongs to those who plan for it today.”

The inability of event organizers to plan their events in advance is one of the reasons why our events do not get the desired patronage. JOY FM's Annual Old School Reunion and Bridal Fair have been successful due to the effective planning by the event managers.

In an era of globalisation Ghanaian event holders should be able plan their events, be it religious, political, sport, entertainment or academic in advance. What is important is not just planning the event in advance but rather sticking to the planning and there should be some consistency in the feature.

When events are planned in advance it allows people to plan and budget for them. Beyond this it also allows the organizers to search for appropriate sponsors.
