Tax Education In Berekum West Yielding Positive Results
22.06.2018 LISTEN

Mr. Peter Maala, the District Coordinating Director (DCD) for Berekum West has announced that tax education campaign recently embarked on by the Assembly has yielded positive results as the tax-payers are honouring their tax obligations.

Mr. Maala announced when he was addressing staff of the Assembly at a meeting on Monday at Jinijini, the District capital in the Brong-Ahafo Region, commending that the effort of the staff during those campaigns had not been in vain because the people had responded positively.

The DCD though did not give figures, he emphasised revenue being generated internally has improved.

The tax education is part of efforts to mobilise funds to augment government's financial allocation for the developmental drive of the newly-created District, Mr. Maala said.

Consequently the Assembly since its inauguration on March 15 this year has been meeting with the chiefs and people at separate community durbars in the District to sensitise them on the need to pay the various taxes to generate enough funds for the District's rapid socio-economic development, the DCD added.

Mr. Maala enumerated challenges being faced by the District and explained that the payment of the taxes by the populace would enable the Assembly to mobilise more revenue to attract more funds from the central government to carry out its developmental projects.

He admitted that revenue mobilisation was a daunting task and therefore urged the staff, particularly the revenue collectors to remain relentless and work harder to move beyond the success made for the benefit of the people.
