Man Defiles 7-Year-Old Girl

An Accra Circuit Court on Monday ordered the arrest of Maxwell Antwi, a tailor charged with defilement of a seven-ear-old class two pupil, for failing to appear before it.

Antwi who had opened his defence was expected to continue today but failed to appear in court.

In his absence, Prosecuting Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbire prayed the court for a bench warrant for his arrest which the court presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong Adjin-Doku made the order to that effect.

The matter has been adjourned to March 26.
The Prosecution had told the court that the complaint is a mason and father of the victim.

According to prosecution, Antwi aka Akora resides at Baatsona while the complainant and the victim also live in the same vicinity.

On August 4, 2016 at about 1000 hours, the victim complained of abdominal pains with little drops of bloodstains in her paints, which she showed to her parents.

Prosecution said when the victim was quizzed as to whether or not she had been carnally known by a man but she denied same.

On August 16, 2016, prosecution said at about 15:30 hours the victim saw bloodstains in her pants again and she informed her mother who in turn informed the complainant.

When the victim was interrogated again this time, she recounted that during the month of July 2016, she went playing on the accused compound, and accused carried her into one of the rooms of an uncompleted building and had sex with her.

Prosecution said after the act, Antwi warned the victim not inform anyone or else she will die. The victim therefore kept this act to herself until she started experiencing bloodstains in her pants and pain in her abdomen.

A report was made at the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit at Baatsona and a medical report form was issued to the complainant to seek medical care for the victim.

When Antwi was arrested and interrogated he denied the offence.
