AUG 24, 2017 LISTEN

Marc J. Sievers US ambassador to Oman said in an interview with the Atlantic: "friendship ties between the US and Oman are historic and profound. We are grateful for the centuries-long relationship and we hope many more years of cooperation and collaboration to come."

Referring to the need for solidarity among the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and resolving existing crises and disputes while pointing to the Yemeni crisis, he stated: "Despite the passage of more than 30 months, Riyadh has faced a deadlock in solving the Yemeni crisis and should prepare itself for a painful compromise at the Oman Summit."

In assessing the current situation of Yemen crisis, Mr. Ambassador expressed hope that Riyadh would enter this round of talks with a positive look to end the crisis and the human tragedy which threatens the lives of Yemeni children.
