SMEs Operators Build Capacity

Ghanaians are continuously benefiting from capacity building in terms of managerial and financial support from government and private entities.

Last week, about 22 Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the print industry who received training in new imaging technologies and software were awarded certificates.

This helps to grow and formalize the SMEs sector to propel them to contribute significantly to the economy of the country as well as creating job opportunities.

The 10-day capacity building training, which was held between July and November this year, was organized by Canon Central and North Africa, a global leader in imaging solutions, in partnership with Invest In Africa (IIA) Ghana.

The SMEs, including Inkexpress Business Solutions, Bethesda Press Limited, officially completed the training on Tuesday at a short ceremony held at the British Council in Accra.

Ghana Manager of IIA, Samuel Essilfie Taylor Brandful, told the media on the sidelines of the graduation that the 22 SMEs were given skills that can help improve their productivity and efficiency within the industry.

According to him, they were taught how to use the latest imaging technologies and software and also handle papers.

He indicated that the beneficiary SMEs shall be given access to credit facilities, as well as Canon imaging technologies and software to help expand their businesses.

The collaboration between the two entities is believed to be the first of its kind and they intend to roll it to other sectors of the country’s economy.

Marketing Manager of Canon, AymanAly, in an interview with the media, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership between his outfit and IIA.

He said the collaboration would assist Canon to make a positive impact on the Ghanaian economy.

According to him, Canon has over the years contributed immensely to the economies of Africa and hope to do same in the coming years.

IIA currently has a total of 1,500 companies from different industries.
