The Advertisers Association of Ghana (AAG) has named Ogilvy and Mather, an advertising agency, as the Best Advertising Agency for the year 2016) at its 10th Gong-Gong awards.

The event saw Ogilvy & Mather winning two out of four platinum awards.

Inova DDB Ghana and Insel Communications were adjudged winners of the other two platinum awards.

Other advertising companies, such as Scanad, STB McCann, Rezultz Advertising, Digicraft Advertising Agency, Pacific Solutions, OriginM8 Limited, Adeko Minds Limited, Primus Advertising Limited, Telemedia Communications and Publicis Africa Group Ghana were also recognised in various categories for their outstanding performance in the industry.

Joel Nettey, President, Advertising Association of Ghana (AAG), said AAG was currently focused on ensuring that all practitioners stay abreast of modern demands to promote a better and competitive industry.

Mr. Nettey said the Advertising Council Bill was before Parliament for deliberation and passage, and expressed hope that it would be passed into law by the next Parliament to effectively and efficiently regulate the operations of the players in the industry.

Kwame Akuffo Anoff-Ntow, Director-General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), on his part, called on advertisers to acquaint themselves with online advertising, noting that it was currently the popular medium of advertising.

Dr Anoff-Ntow said advertising online was expected to increase four folds in the next two years, saying that the advertiser, who stood to benefit from such technological boom, was the one who had the knowledge and tools to create content for both the domestic and global audience.

He advised advertisers to understand the economic prospects of global online footprints and develop drivers, including technological literacy, to address competency concerns, as well as make inroads in the advertising space.

An official of Ogilvy and Mather, Nathan Dube, touching on the company's laurels, said it integrated its companies within the year to build a strong workforce, adding that it had also strengthened its team.
