Konongo (Ash), Dec. 11, GNA - Abeko Karim of Konongo Freetown is to assist the Police at Konongo in investigations into the murder of Atoa Kanjaga at Duku's Spot, a drinking bar at Freetown.

Abeko is currently on admission at the Konongo Government Hospital in a critical condition from knife wounds.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Konongo, Chief Superintendent Theodore Gawe, Konongo Divisional Police Commander, said at about 23:50 hours on November 3 this year, Abeko rushed to the Police Station at Konongo bleeding from the head and neck to report that somebody had stabbed him.

He said following the report, the Police gave him a medical form to go to the hospital.

Chief Supt. Gawe said shortly after, two persons, Kwaku Duku and Kojo Kanjaga, the victim's brother also came to report to the Police that Abeko had stabbed Atoa to death.

He said the police went to the scene and found Atoa lying dead in a pool of blood in front of Duku's Spot and also found a pair of scissors and a sharp knife all covered with blood lying about five metres away from the body.

Chief Supt. Gawe said the Police conveyed the body to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for autopsy, while the suspect was admitted to the Konongo Hospital in a critical condition.

He said eyewitnesses told the Police that the incident followed a quarrel between the two at 'Gye Nyame' drinking bar and continued at Duku's drinking spot but could not tell the cause of the quarrel.
