Breman Asikuma (C/R, July 28, GNA - The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa (AOB) district Assembly collected GH¢100,118.61 as revenue at the end June of this year.
The AOB has targeted GH¢309,485.00 as Internally Generated Fund (IGF) for this year.
This amount represents 32.35 percent of the targeted revenue.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, Mrs Georgina Nkrumah Aboah made this known at the Assembly meeting at Breman Asikuma on Friday.
She said the total expenditure to be financed from the IGF was projected at GH¢309,485.59.
Mrs Aboah said the government has awarded a contract for the extension of electricity to 15 new communities in the district.
The communities include Abekese/Abayaakese, Attu-Dawda, Awusikwa, Ekurakase Supuano, Kwanan Kwaa, Diabebe Kyiraka, Okukrom, Saviour Town, Mpakyem, Ohiansheda, Otabilkwaa, Petukyer and Wansabriampa.
The DCE said this would bring to 37, the number of communities that had been connected to the national grid since the National Democratic Congress came into power three and a half years ago.
According to the DCE, a survey has been completed in all old existing Towns and Communities for the extension of electricity and mentioned Amonda, Nwomaso, Bedum, Breman Asikuma and Kuntanase as some of the beneficiary communities.
Mr Anthony Kobina Amoakwa, the Presiding Member, appealed to members to sensitize the electorate on the need to maintain the peace and unity that is prevailing in the country.
He said AOB district is among the peaceful districts in the Central Region and urged the people to maintain it.
The Presiding Member urged the Assembly members to educate the people to honour their tax obligations to improve the district's financial position.
The Assembly earlier observed a minute's silence in memory of the late President John Evans Atta Mills and expressed its condolence to Mrs Naadu Mills, widow of the late President.
