Nduom Acted Rather Wisely

The article, sourced to The Herald newspaper, was rather sensationally captioned “Twum-Boafo Strips Nduom Naked” (Ghanaweb.com 5/5/12). But there is absolutely nothing remarkable vis-à-vis its contents that points to the fact of the former rump-Convention People's Party presidential candidate and Member of Parliament for Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abirem being plausibly exposed by the rambunctious and wet-eared chief executive officer of the so-called Free-Enterprise Zone Board, Mr. Twum-Boafo, for either tax evasion or tax fraud.

You see, most intelligent and law-abiding Ghanaian citizens never recognized the faux-revolutionary so-called Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC) as a legitimate executive representative of the Ghanaian people. It is also significant to underscore the fact that, to-date, absolutely none of his lackeys and staunch supporters have been able to release for public consumption and scrutiny, information pertaining to exactly how much, by way of salary, the then-Chairman Jerry John Rawlings and his wife made between December 31, 1981 and December 31, 1992.

And so for any intelligent and responsible Ghanaian citizen to have expected that Dr. Nduom would rather so unwisely and docilely consent to being robbed raw and naked of his honest contractual earnings would have been nothing short of abject stupidity. And I hope that those presuming to impugn the personal and professional integrity of the man, also recognize the glaringly uncomfortable fact that today most of the so-called Apostles of Probity and Accountability, including, you guessed right, their Supreme Anlo-Mafia Capo, the former Flight-Lieutenant and President Rawlings are filthy-rich millionaires and billionaires whose wealth could not be legitimately accounted for, were the same sort of kangaroo tribunals which the PNDC Abongo Boys set up to rob and exploit decent and diligent Ghanaians to be established to rigorously probe the assets of these self-righteous muggers of yesteryear.

As to whether, indeed, the former cabinet member of the Kufuor administration is an agent of the United States' government or not is an absolute nonissue. Needless to say, Ghana's sitting President, John Evans Atta-Mills, a la Wikileaks revelations, has voluntarily offered more damning information bordering on the country's national security to make any patriotic Ghanaian wonder whether, indeed, Mr. Rawlings' former protégé was not the Station Chief of the United States' Central Intelligence Agency in Ghana. And has any government agency or even the judiciary ever prevailed on the now-President John Evans Atta-Mills to return the $ 20 million which the then-Vice President Mills recklessly caused to be literally gifted to Ms. Juliet Cotton, the Georgia-resident African-American welfare recipient and fraudster in the Aveyime Rice Project scandal?

Indeed, the latter incident ought to convince any levelheaded Ghanaian that the Woyome outrage is highly likely to go the way of Aveyime; and, hardly surprisingly, this time, with nobody being asked to serve time at Nsawam.

The fact of the matter is that, contrary to what many of its paid propagandists would have the rest of us believe, the Provisional National Democratic Congress (P/NDC) is indisputably the most corrupt and criminal government in the 55-year-old history of modern Ghana.

As for the question of whether Dr. Nduom's breakaway Progressive People's Party (PPP) has any thematic and/or collusive historical links with the Danquah-Busia-Dombo-led United Party (UP), this very question, in of itself, is just as relevant as asking about the source of the word “Convention” in the Nkrumah-led Convention People's Party (CPP).

At any rate, Dr. Nduom is no less the proprietary overlord of the Progressive People's Party than Nkrumah's being the founding-owner, chief executive officer and peremptory life-chairman of the board of directors of the tautological Convention People's Party.
