Wa, July 20, GNA - A Roman Catholic chapel at Mangu, in the Wa Municipality, was inaugurated at the weekend with a call on Christians to abide by the principles Jesus Christ upheld.

The building that cost 100,793.32 Ghana Cedis and funded with money from church members and philanthropists, was dedicated to Saint Cecilia..

The Catholic Bishop of Wa, Most Reverend Paul Bamile, who performed the dedication service, urged Catholics to let the word of God to pierce their hearts.

He also urged them to consider themselves as a family of the Catholic faith and work hard to spread the gospel and principles of the Catholic Church.

Mr. Mahmud Khalid, Upper West Regional Minister, who graced the occasion, commended the Catholic Church for its contribution to the development of education, health and agriculture among others to complement government's efforts.

He urged religious organisations to do more to reform society and eliminate corruption and armed robbery and other vices that had plagued the country.

"The Church and the Mosque should take up the challenge with other stakeholders and address them appropriately to promote peace and development in the communities", Mr Khalid said.

He called on people in the region to maintain the prevailing peace to attract investors to the area.
