The Minister of State at the Office of the President, Alhaji Amadu Seidu has urged players in the auto-mobile industry to whip-up interest of Ghanaians on the need to buy newly manufactured vehicles in the country. This would help reduce the accidents on our roads and other road related incidents.

The Minister of State made this remark at the opening of this year's Ghana Auto Expo 2009, dubbed -”Making the right choices to ensure safety on our roads”, at the Ghana International Trade Fair Centre in Accra.

The three day auto expo exhibition would also be used to sensitize vehicle users in the country on the need to encourage automobile specification that meet the country's climatic conditions.

The event was organized by the Business and Financial Times newspaper (B&FT) and was attended by 32 automobile companies in the country.

Alhaji Seidu entreated Ghanaians to patronize quality vehicles and auto-parts, as well as imbibing the culture of maintenance so as to reduce frequent break down on the roads.

He emphasized the government's total commitment to road safety, and pledged that the government would resource the National Road Safety Commission to install speed cameras to check over speeding on the roads.
