The Methodist Church at Pramso in the
Bosomtwe District has honoured Dr. Joe Oteng-Agyei, Minister of Energy for
his appointment to the high office.
At a colourful ceremony held over the weekend at Pramso, his native town, the Minister who is also a member of the church received a citation, a kente cloth and other gifts for his altruistic act of supporting needy school children in their education at various levels.
The citation commended Dr. Oteng Agyei who is also the Registrar of Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), for his selflessness, dedication and hard work which has earned him his current position.
It read in part; “From a humble beginning as a lecturer to a registrar of such an august institution and currently as a Minister of Energy, the Church and community feel very proud of you”.
Earlier in a sermon, Very Reverend Fred Ansu, the Superintendent Minister, admonished Ghanaians not to whip up tribal sentiments, which he said only ignited conflicts but to aim at national integration to a foster economic growth.
Dr. Oteng-Agyei thanked the church and community for the honour and pledged to continue to support the needy but brilliant youth to attain higher academic laurels to boost the nations' manpower needs.
