The Mayor of Kumasi, Mr Samuel Pyne, has called on commercial drivers to adhere to road safety regulations to reduce road crashes in the city.

He made the call when he met the executives of transport unions and regulatory bodies in Adum to discuss and find solutions to the challenges facing the transport sector as well as promote road safety in Kumasi and its environs.

He advised the transport unions to educate their members on the importance of road safety, the need to prioritise the safety of passengers and organise regular training programmes, workshops to equip drivers with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate Kumasi's roads safely.

The executives of the transport unions; the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU), Concern Drivers’ Union, Progressive Transport Union Association and Kumasi Metro Mass Transport Union; pledged to work with the KMA to promote safe driving practices among their members.
