Nana Kwame Bediako, popularly known as Freedom Jacob Caesar or Cheddar, the founder and leader of the New Force political party in Ghana, has outlined an ambitious plan to unite Africa under a single currency if elected president.

In an interview with Starr Chat, Cheddar, whose real name is Nana Kwame Bediako, said introducing a pan-African currency would be a step towards economic and political integration across the continent.

According to him, he will make sure the currency does not depreciate against major foreign currencies or cause inflation to distort the economy.

"I believe that I am not going to use the word unity as the word to convince people to unite Africa. I think it is a currency that I am going to use to unite the continent," Cheddar stated.

“I am the one that will break that currency - that currency that will have a value that does not depreciate. The kind of currency that does not cause inflation or distort the economy. The kind of currency that will be patched with gold," he added.

If implemented, Cheddar's proposal would see Africa move towards a single monetary zone, replacing the various national currencies that currently exist.

He argues this would help open borders between countries and facilitate greater trade and investment flows across the continent.
