Six persons behind staging of kidnap of PRESEC student succeeded in collecting GHS20,000 ransom – Police reveals

The Ghana Police Service has revealed that the people behind the staging of a kidnapping incident at Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (PRESEC), Legon, Accra, succeeded in collecting an amount of GHS20,000 as ransom from the parent of the student who was alleged to have been kidnapped.

The Police through an intelligence-led operation and investigation announced on Friday that it has arrested six persons behind the staging of the kidnapped incident.

It said the suspects include two adults identified as Isaac Kissi Adjei alias Kofi Black and Courage Teiko alias Timmy as well as four students of Legon PRESEC who are all juveniles.

According to a press release from the Police, investigations have revealed that the suspects managed to collect GHS20,000 out of a ransom demand of GHS340,000 from the parents of the students used to stage the kidnapping.

“The Investigation further disclosed that the juveniles, together with the two others, succeeded in collecting an amount of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH$20,000.00) of the total ransom demanded,” part of the Police release said.

The Police release signed by Director of Public Affairs, ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi said the identities of the juveniles have been withheld and their parents and guardians have been duly informed in line with best practices as investigations into the incident continue.
