The Ghana Police Service has announced that it is currently providing protection for the 12-year-old girl who has been allegedly married to Gborbu Wulomo in Nungua.
The alleged marriage by the teenager to the 63-year-old Gborbu Wulomo broke the internet on Monday with Ghanaians fuming and condemning the ceremony.
After several calls for the Ministry of Gender and Social Protection to intervene, there has been some development.
According to a press release from the Police, it has indicated that the 12-year-old girl allegedly married to Gborbu Wulomo and her mother are under its protection
“The Ghana Police Service has identified and located the 12-year-old girl who is alleged to have been married to the 63-year-old Gborbu Wulomo in Nungua, Accra. The girl and her mother are currently under Police protection,” parts of the release said.
The Police further indicated that it is working with the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection and the Department of Social Welfare to provide the 12-year-old girl with the necessary support while the matter is being investigated.
