The Patron of Save Pesewa A Day Foundation, Kweku Botwe has expressed grave concern about the inability of Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of savings.

Speaking at a day's seminar organised by Youth Consult in Accra, Mr Botwe said currently, the savings level of the country was very low, attributing it to lack of knowledge at the individual level and limited impact of banking in the general populace.

“Though the banks are doing well, they are not able to engage the populace much. Ghanaians have to cultivate the habit of saving a pesewa a day in order to create wealth,” he said.

The Chief Executive Officer of Youth Consult, Ms Adjoa Ashia, said the seminar aimed to inculcate the habit of savings in the youth of the country.

“Savings gives empowerment to plan and acquire what one needs without being under the yoke of anybody,” she stated.

The seminar was under the theme: “Financial Discipline: Save A Pesewa A Day.”
