The Head of Health Training Institutions (HTIs), Mr Felix Nyante, has charged the heads of HTIs to strengthen the corporate governance system in their institution.

He asked the principals to put into practice the already existing structures, which are coordinating the formation of Functional Committees in the Institutions, participating in external stakeholder engagements, and improving engagements with Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, Affiliate Universities, Professional Regulatory Bodies and Clinical Training Sites.

Mr Nyante said this at a round table discussion with principals of health institutions at Tamale last Wednesday.

He said the formation of outstanding advisory boards to collaborate with the management of the various institutions would strengthen the corporate governance system in HTIs.

He noted that ensuring quality health care for all could only be achieved when proper management and regulation of health training institutions were in place.

The Principal of Tamale Nursing and Midwifery Training School, Mr Abdulia Abdul Malik, pledged on behalf of the principals to improve health training at their various institutions to meet global standards.

“We will do our best to produce a quality human resource for the health sector as Ghana position itself for accessible and quality health care for a healthy nation,” he said.
