Actionaid Ghana in collaboration with Tree Aid and Urbanet Ghana as part of their response to the Covid-19 pandemic has donated some health equipment and foodstuff to women groups in the Kassena Nankana Municipal and Builsa North districts in the Upper East Region.

The items include nose mask, soap, frytol oil, rice and hand sanitisers.

The donation was under the auspices of the European Union under the Northern Ghana Integrated Development (NGID) project to respond to the coronavirus fight.

The project which is currently supporting 40 women groups consisting of 40 members each in the communities of the Kasena Nankana East Municipal and the Builsa South District aims to empower women in deprived communities in Northern Ghana.

Presenting the items to the women groups in the various communities, Mr Ayamga Samuel Atia, Tree Ghana project Coordinator for Northern Ghana Integrated Development Project said, the idea to help the marginalised in society was as a result of the coronavirus pandemic which hit the country in March this year.

He indicated that Actionaid being the lead implementor of the project led Tree aid and Urbanet Ghana to European Union (EU) to seek funds to enable them support the vulnerable, which the proposal to EU was approved.

Mr. Samuel expressed gratitude to ActionAid and European Union for their continued support for the vulnerable in society.

Lardi Agoasi, a beneficiary thanked the Tree Ghana, Actionaid and Urbanet Ghana for their support and gesture.

She added that the items will go a long way to aid them in the fight against coronavirus pandemic.
