The Deputy National Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Biney has said President Akufo-Addo is using the coronavirus epidemic as a campaign platform for 2020 elections.

He asked the government to publish plans on how it intends to protect the economy in the wake of the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.

According to him, the government is doing little to cushion the country from a plunge in the economy.

“I don’t understand why the Akufo-Addo led government is using the coronavirus epidemic to do politics instead of finding prudent measures to fight the coronavirus epidemic. Why must you even lift the lockdown whiles the coronavirus cases keep increasing?,’’ Chief Biney told Kwaku Dawuro on ‘Pae Mu Ka’ on Accra-based Kingdom FM 107.7

“Former President Mahama is not doing politics, he is only setting the records straight and helping Ghanaians with the needy solutions in this coronavirus epidemic era,’’ he added

He called on the government to refrain from what he describes as political or parochial considerations in the fight against the novel coronavirus.

Chief Hamilton Biney also accused the government of politicizing the sharing of food items to vulnerable people during the lockdown.

He noted that the government must adopt efficient and prudent measures to help curb the virus rather than doing hefty campaign promises during this era.
