Nigerian actor Yul Edochie loses first son, Kambilichukwu at age 16

Nigerian actor and politician, Yul Edochie has reportedly lost his first son, Kambilichukwu Edochie, in the early hours of Thursday, March 30.

The tragic news comes after the late child had joined his colleagues to play a football game during which he collapsed.

Confirming the news of Kambilichukwu's death to the media, a family member said, "After his exam in school, he joined his mates to play football and he developed a seizure and was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital. All efforts by the doctors to resuscitate him proved abortive."

The actor faced heightened family issues since 2022 for marrying a colleague filmmaker, Judy Austin, which left his marriage with his first wife, May Edochie in limbo.

The Nollywood giant had celebrated his son's 16th birthday only two months ago with his wife, Mary Edochie.

Yul had taken to his verified Instagram handle on January 4 to wish his son a happy birthday, asking God to lead and protect him always.

The news of Kambilichukwu's death has come as a shock to Yul Edochie's fans and well-wishers, who have taken to social media to express their condolences.
