Senior political science lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon, Prof. Ransford Gyampo has urged Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang to use her influence to fight for the interest of women.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, a former Minister of Education has been officially outdoored as running mate to flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama.

If Mahama wins the 2024 presidential election, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang will become the first female Vice President of the country.

Speaking to Citi News on Thursday evening, Prof. Ransford Gyampo called on the running mate to the NDC flagbearer to put the interest of women first should she get the opportunity to serve as Vice President.

“If you have a woman now going towards the presidency, I’m expecting that women would see the need to support their own so that we will make giant strides in our quest for women empowerment.

“The other bit is that I want to hope and believe that Prof. Naana Opoku Agyemang if she gets the nod will use her position to champion the course of women. I pray that she will use her position to reflect and promote the interest of women in a manner that advance our quest to ensure women play a role in our politics and decision making,” Prof. Ransford Gyampo said.

In the coming months, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and John Dramani Mahama are expected to step up their campaign to convince Ghanaians to vote the NDC back into power.
