I didn't experience the joy i expected after winning Artist of the Year in 2016 - EL

Rapper, EL, has revealed that the euphoria he expected will come with winning Artiste of the Year at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards was not he felt.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM Friday, instead of basking in joy for winning the award, he rather wondered what to do after grabbing the coveted award.

“I feel things differently and process things differently and so I went into it hoping to experience a certain type of euphoria but I didn’t get that feeling,” he told Andy Dosty, host of the show.

EL said he went on a hiatus hoping to figure out what he wanted to do next with his life.

He explained that he may have quit music if he does not find what he believes to be his purpose.

“I was in the States for about a year and that’s when I had a lot of time to reflect on what my purpose was. I realised it wasn’t about me. It was about making music to share, making as much impact as I can and helping as many people as possible,” the ‘Higher’ hitmaker stated.

Rapper and music producer born Elorm Adablah was adjudged the 2016 Artiste of the Year. He beat Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Bisa Kdei, VVIP and SP Kofi Sarpong to win the award

According to him, many artistes get to the point where they get depressed and begin to question themselves adding that “they feel like it’s not as exciting as they thought it would be.”

EL stated that when he began to realise his journey was more about helping people than doing what will benefit him alone, he took steps to make a bigger impact in people’s lives.

“The most important thing as a human being is knowing who you are,” the ‘All Black’, "rapper added.

EL said that he opened his studio doors to hardworking artistes especially up and coming artistes to work and record for free.

His 2019 BAR concert, he revealed, is open to exposing these new artistes who are ready to get their works out there.
