Bird flu: Two poultry farms destroyed in Volta region

Over 2000 birds in two different farms have been destroyed in the Volta region as a result of the Bird flu outbreak.

All the birds were destroyed together with their eggs.

The drinking and feeding troughs have also been disinfected.

The poultry farmers fear the worse could happen if something is not done to prevent the disease from spreading to other farms.

The Agric Ministry confirmed the outbreak in the country early this month with four farms in Accra affected.

 Information gathered has that veterinary officers in the Volta region have begun an intensive screening exercise to avoid a further spread of the disease.
