CAF U-23 AFCON: Issah Abass Wants Black Meteors To Play As A Team At Tourney

07.11.2019 LISTEN

Ghanaian attacker, Issah Abass has called on his Black Meteors teammates to come together and play as a team at this year’s CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament which is starting in Egypt on Friday, November 8, 2019.

The West African side is one of 8 teams that have qualified to battle for glory as well as qualification to the 2020 Olympic Games which has been scheduled to be staged in Tokyo, Japan.

FC Utrecht forward, Issah Abass says the Meteors team has the quality to succeed but will need to play as a unit to ensure they enjoy triumph at the end of the tournament.

“We have a great squad and everyone is ready, we just have to understand each other and be like one blood, one family and fight for what belongs to us”, he said in an interview after training with the side on Wednesday.

He added, “I am ready to do something good, I am ready for whatever comes. We just have to take our chances, I score a lot sometimes so I am just hoping to get my days here. If I get good passes from my colleagues, I hope everything will go on”.

Ghana has been pitted in Group A and will come up against host nation Egypt, as well as Cameroon and Mali.

First though, Ibrahim Tanko and his side must think of how to get past Cameroon on Friday night. The game will come off at the Cairo International Stadium at 20:00GMT.
