Former Kotoko head coach, Charles Kwablah Akonnor has ruled out the possibility of Etoile du Sahel upsetting the Ghana Premier League giants at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium this weekend.
The Porcupine Warriors are set to play as host to their counterpart from Morocco in what will be a tough match on Sunday in the first leg of the second qualifying round of this year’s CAF Champions League.
Ahead of the titanic meeting, CK Akonnor is confident the Kumasi-based club will have enough arsenal in their corner to steer them to a resounding win at the end of 90 minutes.
“This is the champions league, it’s a different level but I have seen the progress of Asante Kotoko and I think once things are done properly they will win”.
Akonnor added, “In Kumasi, the opponent have nothing to look for, they don’t have a chance in Kumasi, they will lose”.
“For me, I’m certain the opponent will not win in Kumasi, it’s impossible but the fact that they will not win means Kotoko has to win convincingly, the gaffer stressed.
He further implored Kotoko to win by a huge goal margin to ensure that they won’t be in trouble when things don’t go as planned when they travel to Morocco for the reverse fixture.
“Kotoko have to win convincingly because they will go for the away match, which will be very difficult to come away with the all-important win so they have to do the job in Kumasi on Sunday.
“These people have a strategy, they don’t just come and play, they play with a plan, they have a way of playing away games”, the former Ashanti Gold coach shared.
The high profile match will be played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 15, 2019. Kick-off is at 15:00GMT.
