Head Coach for the Black Stars of Ghana, James Kwesi Appiah has shared that he has been impressed by the support his team has received from the Minister of Youth, Sports, and Culture, Hon. Isaac Kwame Asiamah since the start of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The Minister who arrived in Egypt on July 25, 2019, watched all three of the Black Stars matches in the group phase and is still around to interact with the squad whenever he gets the opportunity.

According to checks, Hon. Isaac Asiamah is in Egypt to observe the activities of the Black Stars and report directly to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking in a pre-match interview ahead of Ghana’s round of 16 match against Tunisia, Coach Kwesi Appiah expressed that though he is surprised the Minister is still around, he believes his presence will serve as a motivation to his players who will see him as a father figure.

“I was actually surprised when I heard the Minister was still here. It shows signs and support for the team. He has been here since our last game. Once the players see him, they see him as a father and it will be a booster for the players”, Coach Kwesi Appiah said.

Ghana will lock horns with their Tunisian counterpart on Monday, July 8, 2019, at the Ismailia Stadium. Kick off will be at 19:00GMT.
