Asante Kotoko trainer, CK Akunnor has slammed his players after losing to Ashgold on Sunday in the Normalization Committee Special Competition.

Mark Agyekum's strike on the stroke of half-time gave the Miners all three points in the Zone A matchday 11 fixture in the regional derby.

The gaffer of the side, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has agglutinate in questioning the recent performance of some of his charges.

"I think our many setbacks today was our inability to attack well, in the early minutes of the game we were stable in defence, but we lack the ability to keep hold of the ball.

"I'm a bit disappointed in some key players in my team, when going gets tougher I need to see men come out and take charge of the game.

"But we were not able to do that and there's the need for us to quickly rectify that else we will struggle going forward," he added.

With leaders Medeama also losing, second-placed Kotoko missed an opportunity to close in on the Yellow and Mauves at the top of the table.

The defeat was the Porcupines' second consecutive one and as a result, Aduana Stars have drawn level with them after beating Berekum Chelsea 1-0 on the same matchday.

Kotoko next play at home against Eleven Wonders, who are fifth on the table.
