Chairman of the Ghana FA Normalization Committee, Dr Kofi Amoah has insisted that he will not accept an extension from FIFA when his current mandate comes to an end.
The successful business mogul has been in charge of the country’s football governing since last year 2018 after premiering of the ‘Number 12’ by Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
FIFA in consultation with CAF and the government of Ghana named Dr Kofi Amoah, Naa Odofoley Nortey, Mrs Lucy Quist and Lawyer Dua Adonetng on October 2018 to take charge of the Ghana football until March 31.
However, after March 31, the world football governing body extended the mandate of the committee to September 30.
Surprisingly, former Ghanaian defender, Samuel Osei Kuffour was also named as a replacement of Lawyer Dua Adonteng.
Multiple reports have emerged that Dr Kofi Amoah and his members will welcome another extension from the world football governing body but in an interview with Metro TV, Dr Amoah has refuted those claims insisting he is not ready to accept any extension from FIFA.
“It was the president [Nana Akufo Addo] who offered me the opportunity to help restore the integrity of Ghana football after consulting CAF and FIFA after the premiere of the ‘Number 12’ video.
“The president himself is aware that I am an ambassador in the United State so I want to leave for to see how my businesses are faring.
“There is no way I will accept an extension from FIFA when my mandate comes to an end. I am not interested in that because I and my members will make sure we complete our mandate before September 31.
The Committee tasked by FIFA to review the statutes of the Ghana FA, run the daily affairs of the country’s football governing body and organize elections to elect new president for the FA and Executive Committee Members.
