Wonder Club, Accra Great Olympics, humiliated city rivals, Hearts of Oak, with a 3-0 defeat in last Monday's “President's Memory Lane” Sports Fiesta clash at the Ohene Djan Stadium.

Olympics unsettled their opponents with a 25th minute penalty converted by former Power FC midfielder, Edward Sosu, and never allowed the Amankwaa Mireku-led Hearts squad to recover.

Determined to prove a point, the Division One campaigners probed for more goals after recess which resulted in an own goal by Saliu Muntari after attempting a clearance.

Enterprising Emmanuel Quartey further established Olympics' dominance with the third goal four minutes from the end.

The massive victory earned Olympics the trophy at stake and re-emphasised their determination to stage a comeback in the premiership next season.

In a similar match played in Kumasi, Asante Kotoko proved superior by beating ageless rivals, Cornerstone, who are now in Division Two 4-2, while Ashantigold pipped Adansiman by a lone goal at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium, also on Boxing Day.

In Sunyani, Bofoakwa and B.A. United settled for a barren draw; RTU beat Savanna Stars 2-0 at the Tamale Kaladan Park; Okwawu United defeated Maxbees 2-0, while Hotspurs thrashed Soccer Millionaires 3-0 at Kade.

At Koforidua, Susubiribi were too hot for Rovers to handle as they won the day 3-0; Numbo United beat Wa Real United 4-3 on penalties after a goalles draw in regulation time at Wa, with Catholic Stars also beating Upper Stars 4-2 on penalties following a 1-1 drawn game.

Ho Sunset walloped Eagles 5-3 in their match at Ho; Tarkwa United also accounted for Mine Stars 1-0 at Tarkwa, while Amali Stars won a special gala organised at Kpando in connection with the event.

This new concept has been put together by the National Sports Council (NSC) and the Ministry of Education and Sports to honour the President of the Republic, as well as refresh the current generation with fond memories of the rivalries of yesteryear's.

Following the success of the maiden matches, the event which climaxes the annual sports calendar, is going to be an annual affair.
