Saddick Adams Scores As Ashgold Beat Liberty 2-1 To Qualify For The Finale Of Betway Cup

Obuasi Ashanti Gold has booked their place in the final of the maiden edition of the Betway Cup competition following a win over Liberty Professionals this afternoon at the Len Clay Sports Stadium.

The Miners sealed the 2-1 one over Liberty by courtesy goals from veteran striker Saddick Adams and Salia Outtara. Elvis Kyei Baffour got the consolation goal for the losing side.

A first half dominated by Ashgold saw them winning by a alone goal to nothing at the break. It appears Obuasi based side have decided to adopt the possessive football tactic and it was brought to bear this afternoon once again.

Their efforts were rewarded when they were awarded a penalty on the 11^th minute. Saddick Adams as expected stepped up and converted convincingly. They however had to wait until the last ten minutes of the game before getting their second goal. A powerful strike from Salia Outtara was too much for Liberty goalie Dida who was beaten completely.

In the dying minutes of the match, referee Kennedy Paddy awarded a second penalty on the day. This time around going in favor of Liberty. It was Elvis Kyei Baffour who accepted the challenge and sent the goalkeeper the wrong way to get on the score sheet. The goal was however not enough as they were beaten at the end of the match.

The win means Ashgold have qualified to the final of the Betway cup. They await the winner of the second match of the day between Aduana Stars and Medeama SC.

Medeama have been tipped as favorite to win that match to set up a cracking finale with the miners.
