Atletico Madrid To Fight Sevilla For Alvaro Morata
Reigning UEFA Europa League champions, Atletico Madrid have joined Sevilla in the hunt for Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata.
The club are currently waiting to see if Diego Costa can successfully return from an operation on his left foot at the start of December.
He is expected back at the start of next month. Nikola Kalinić is struggling to impress in his place.
Morata wants a return to Spain and is keen on joining Sevilla but the club's Sporting Director Joaquin Caparros admitted on Tuesday:
'It is true that we have an interest in this player [Morata], but it is a very, very complicated operation.
'The player may want to come here over other options, but it is very complicated. Chelsea are a club who are very difficult to negotiate [with].'
Spanish radio Cope have reported that Atletico's chief dealmaker Andrea Bertra has travelled to London for talks with Chelsea.
Costa started his career in Atletico Madrid's youth team before being signed by Real Madrid.
