Ghana’s Rev Adesah Elected President Of Federation Of Africa Amputee Football

Chairman of the Ghana Amputee Football Federation, Rev Richard Nii Amartey Adesah, has been elected interim President of the newly-formed Federation of Africa Amputee Football (FAAF) at a special Amputee Football Meeting held in Accra from December 12-14.

Delegates from Ghana, Angola and Kenya, with the approval of Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria and Uganda, unanimously elected Rev Adesah to lead the Federation till the next congress in Angola in 2019.

The position of Secretary General was picked by Madam Charity Kamau of Kenya whilst Mr. Sapalo M. Yamuzembe of Angola took the position of 1^st Vice President (Technical).

Peter Oloo of Kenya was picked as the 2^nd Vice President whilst Madam Celeste Tchiama of Angola was chosen as the Treasurer.

Ghana’s Theodore Mawuli Viwotor was given the role of Organizing Secretary to see to the organization of events of the Federation.

Rev Adesah expressed delight at the election and made known his readiness to work assiduously to restore the fortunes of the sport on the continent.

“To me, this is a responsibility to redeem the image of Ghana as the gateway to Africa by helping restore the continent as one of the best in amputee football,” he stated.

He said, “the situation where only two African countries, Ghana and Angola, are in good standing with the World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) is unacceptable and the earlier to rally the members together to change it, the better”.

He called on all amputee football-loving nations, individuals and corporate bodies to support the Federation achieve its objectives.

The election of Rev Adesah further raises the image of Ghana on the international front as Ghana currently hold the position of Secretary General of WAFF in the person of Theodore Mawuli Viwotor.
