The National Sports College (NSC) in Winneba will soon be restored into an ultra modern facility capable of unearthing young sports talent, providing training programs for trainers and above all help develop sports in Ghana.
Established in 1984 as a National School of Sports and to revive the decline in the sports scenario at the time, the NSC has come under serious infrastructural and logistical attack in recent times making it difficult to function as expected.
In view of this, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has decided to develop sports and residential/camping facility at the National Sports College through a public private partnership (PPP) model.
Speaking at a stakeholder sensitization workshop on Public Private Partnership project for National Sports Project held at the Oceanic Beach Resort in Accra on Tuesday, August 17 the Director General at the NSC, Mr. Erasmus Adokor noted that the facility when completed will help develop several sporting disciplines in the country.
The vision of the National Sports College, Winneba is to be a viable center of sports excellence capable of making Ghana one of the booming destinations for sports talent, coaches and administrators in the sub-region and to place Ghana high on the world map of sports.
The project earmarked to start in 2017 is expected to have both indoor and outdoor sporting facilities including hostels and administration blocks.
