ECOWAS kickboxing International competition held

Accra June 27, GNA - The Africa Kickboxing Confederation Zone 2 and the Ghana Kickboxing Association has held the maiden ECOWAS Kickboxing International to select the best fighters for the year.

The competition held at the Lizzy Sports Complex over the weekend, saw about 37 fighters from West Africa, including host nation Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Ivory Coast and one athlete from Lebanon.

In the 67kg senior division, Ghana's Selom Danko won Gold by a split decision over Ahmed Shaban of Lebanon in a tough fight whilst Nigerian's Osarunwese Erhahon walked away with a bronze medal.

Togolese Ali Ezzedine, in the junior category, took the Gold medal with a win over Ivorian Konnan Carmel, who was tipped to emerge winner taking the silver.

Also in the 91kg low kick category, the Nigerians totally dominated the event as they took three, out of four medals, with Goin-Ayodele Michael and Dennis Johnson taking Gold and silver respectively for Nigeria, whiles Michael Adom of Ghana took the bronze medal.

In the 75kg low kick, Ghana's Emmanuel Davies claimed the Gold medal whiles Nigeria's Oruepusu Chidi won the silver, with the bronze going to Ghanaian Felix Ashiagbor.

The 71kg low kick saw Ghana to totally dominating, as they took three medals out of four. Isaac Commey won his bout against compatriot Daniel Adjei for the gold whiles Aminu Kwesi and Ivorian's Bai Landry won bronze medals in their weight categories.
