Steyn is yet to forgive Clarke for a sledge during a Test between the teams in March, and the pair meet again in the first one-day international in Perth on Friday.

But Clarke is desperate to move on from the issue, not drawn on it when quizzed during a news conference on Thursday.

"I think it's sold enough papers over the last couple of weeks. I think the media has used it really well," Clarke said.

"It's made headlines for at least a week. I think that's enough. I think we can now focus on what's important - playing cricket."

Batsman Steve Smith has been named 12th man for the series opener, while Josh Hazlewood is part of the XI.

All-rounder Shane Watson will bat at number three on what is expected to be a somewhat grassy wicket.

Clarke said it had been difficult for selectors, but he just wants to see his team start the five-match series well.

"A couple of tough selections there from the selectors, a couple of tough decisions," he said.

"As we know, we've got to play our best. We're playing against a fantastic team and we have to be on top of our game to beat them.

"Hopefully we can start this series really well tomorrow."
