Herbert Addo To Handle Samartex FC

Coach Herbert Addo has embarked on a new challenge in his eventful career by signing a three-year contract with first division campaigners, Samartex FC of Samreboi.

Under the terms of the contract, Coach Addo is to work towards bringing Samartex to the Premier division and the long-term development of the Samartex Academy.

Coach Addo's signing was announced by Mr Alex Bonnie, Chairman of the club, at an encounter with the media in Accra last Tuesday.

Mr Bonnie said the formation of Samartex FC, which is owned by Samreboi Timber Company Limited, forms part of the timber firm's corporate responsibility to the people of Samreboi and Ghana.He expressed confidence in coach Addo to build Samartex FC into a great club in Ghana and let the academy project evolve into a big dream.

Coach Addo, on his part, said he was sure of succeeding at Samartex FC because the club boasts of great talents and great facilities, including a 15,000-seater capacity stadium.

He noted that the experience he gained as the coach of the then Goldfields Academy and Goldfields FC, now Ashantigold, makes him well equipped for his new assignment.

Coach Addo brings to his new job a rich background that saw him handling two of Ghana's most glamorous clubs, Hearts of Oak and Goldfields (Ashantigold). He boasts of the unrivalled record of being the first Ghanaian coach to lead his club to the final of the CAF Champions League in 1997 when Goldfields played Raja Casablanca.
