Accra, May 23, GNA - The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has sent a congratulatory message to midfielder Michael Essien for his Union of European Football Association (UEFA) Champions League success with Chelsea FC.
A statement from the secretariat of the GFA said, "on behalf of the people of Ghana, we send you our heartiest congratulations following your Champions League success with Chelsea recently".
“We know you were eagerly waiting for this moment and we are thrilled to see your dream come true. It is surely a moment of great happiness and you must be really overjoyed.” The statement added.
It added “We know this momentous title success will spur you on to push yourself to greater heights”.
Essien was part of the Chelsea team that won the UEFA Champions League when they defeated Bayern Munich on penalties after full time ended one all.
