Sankofa happy to be utility man

Sankofa is a Ghanaian star Southend defender Osei Sankofa admits he is prepared to fulfil any role if it means securing a place in Steve Tilson's starting line-up.

The former Charlton man has been restricted to just three substitute appearances and one start in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy since his summer move to Roots Hall.

And with full-back Dan Harding suspended for three games after his red card against Stockport, Sankofa is hoping to get his chance.

"I was disappointed that Dan's red card didn't get overturned but I'm ready to play if needed," he told the club's website.

"I'm not sure what the manager is going to do though. He may look to reshuffle the back-four a little bit and I could end up somewhere else, but it would be great to get a game.

"Left-back is a bit of a foreign position for me but I have played there before and if I'm put there again to do a job then it won't be a problem."
