The President of the Ghana Goal Hunt initiative, Mr. Ebo Mends, has noted that Ghana's Football governing body, the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has thrown its weight behind the Goal Hunt project.

Mr. Mends, a former Black Stars and Asante Kotoko striker, briefing the media on the current state of the project, at the Press Centre in Accra last Thursday, stated, “I am happy to inform you that the contest, which seeks to unearth talents and assist in solving the goal scoring problem of the country, has received great support.”

He further pointed out, “The GFA wrote last week wrote to confirm its decision, to make available its expertise, to ensure the success of the project.

“The FA has also made available the services of its Educational and Development Officer, Mr. Francis Oti Akenteng, as the Technical Director for the project,” said Mr. Mends.

He revealed that in its search to ensure efficiency and credibility in the forthcoming contest, his outfit had engaged the services of tried and tested technical brains, like Coaches Sam Arday of the 'Multi System' fame, E. K. Afranie, current coach of the Black Starlets, and Rev. Osei Kofi as technical consultants.

Mr. Mends added, “Happily, we have acquired a 10-bed room facility, equipped with a swimming pool, at East Legon to serve as the Ghana Goal Hunt House, while the Tema Stadium will serve as training centre.”

And starting from October, the project, which has AFRISAT, a media company, as the production company, will start airing on three television networks, after a nationwide scouting project, which starts from the Upper East Region, on September 10 to October 3.

Representatives from Merchant Bank, Benz Gate and AFRISAT, sponsors of the project, as well as Coach Afranie, Rev. Osei Kofi, in separate speeches, urged all to rally behind the noble cause.
