Europa League final: Atalanta battle invincible Leverkusen for supremacy

The final of this season’s Uefa Europa League is coming off tonight between Atalanta and Bayer Leverkusen.

The Italian outfit is set to lock horns with the German Bundesliga champions at Aviva Stadium in Dublin in a game scheduled to kick off at 19:00gmt.

Bayer Leverkusen are favourites heading into the final with the team’s impressive 51-game unbeaten run still intact.

The German Champions clinched the title in style, setting the record as the only club to win the Bundesliga without a defeat.

In the Europa League, Bayer Leverkusen are yet to taste a defeat as well. In the team’s last five matches, they have won four and drawn the other game.

The opponent in the final, Atalanta are not doing bad themselves. The Italian side may not have been as impressive as the Germans but have done enough to deserve a place in the Europa League final.

This is Atalanta’s first-ever European final and the first one for Bayer Leverkusen since their Uefa Champions League defeat to Real Madrid in the 2001/02 football season.
