Ghanaian swimmer, Harry Stacey narrowly missed the podium in the men's 50m freestyle final, finishing fifth with a time of 23.15 seconds.
After surpassing his teammate Abeku Jackson in the heats, Stacey had set his sights on bolstering Ghana's swimming medal count, which currently stands at two.
Regrettably, Stacey's performance in the final fell just short of medal contention.
The top spot was seized by Egypt's Ali Khalafala, who clocked in at 22.02 seconds, followed by South Africa's Clayton Jimmie and Namibia's Alexander Skinner securing second and third place, respectively.
Stacey was also set to compete as part of Ghana's men's 4x100m medley team, but they withdrew from the final due to unforeseen last-minute issues.
