The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has commended swimmer Abeku Jackson for clinching bronze in the men’s 100m butterfly event.

Jackson's remarkable achievement has bolstered Ghana's medal count at the African Games to five, following his earlier silver win in the 50m butterfly on Sunday.

Minister Ussif lauded the 23-year-old swimmer for his outstanding performance and urged fellow athletes to draw inspiration from his success.

“I’m super excited about Abeku Jackson’s two medals. I’m looking forward to more medals, not only from swimming but other athletes as well,” he said.

Highlighting the support provided to athletes, especially in training camps, the minister emphasized the government's commitment to fostering excellence in sports.

“That is why we gave them good opportunities, especially for camping.

“We’re expecting more athletes to put in effort to win more medals for Ghana,” he added.

Currently, only two athletes, Abeku Jackson and Winnifred Ntumi (in weightlifting), have contributed to Ghana's medal tally.
