The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is poised to name Otto Addo as the new manager of the Black Stars, with an official announcement expected on Friday, March 15, 2024.

According to various local media outlets, the GFA has offered the German-based coach a long-term contract to spearhead Ghana's upcoming football endeavours.

The vacancy arose following the conclusion of Chris Hughton's tenure as coach on January 23, 2024, with the GFA opting to part ways with him and his technical team after a disappointing performance at the recent Africa Cup of Nations, where Ghana failed to advance beyond the group stage, while Ivory Coast clinched the title.

In the event of his reappointment, Otto Addo will succeed Chris Hughton, with whom he closely collaborated during his initial tenure. Hughton initially served as a technical advisor before assuming the head coach role post the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

If reappointed, Otto Addo's first challenge will be the international friendlies against Uganda and Nigeria, scheduled to take place in Morocco in March 2024.

Otto Addo, whose coaching journey commenced in 2010, lacks an extensive managerial track record, with his previous high-profile role being with the Ghanaian national team.

Beginning his coaching career at Hamburger SV U19 and serving as an assistant coach at Nordsjaelland, the former Ghana international currently holds the position of talent coach at Dortmund.

During his initial stint with the Black Stars, Otto Addo oversaw 12 matches, securing four victories, four draws, and suffering four defeats.

Notably, the vacancy attracted significant attention, with over 500 coaches submitting applications following Chris Hughton's departure.
