CAF CL: Jonathan Sowah misses penalty, sees red card as Medeama lose3-0 to Young Africans

Ghanaian champions, Medeama Sporting Club suffered a 3-0 defeat to Young Africans (Yanga SC) on Wednesday, December 20.

In the Round 4 encounter of the CAF Champions League group stages, Medeama SC went into the game looking for all three points.

Before today’s game, Medeama SC had drawn 1-1 with Young Africans in the first meeting between the two teams staged in Ghana at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

In the game today, Young Africans scored in the 33rd minute through Pacome Zouzoue to take the lead.

That goal separated the two teams at halftime.
In the 55th minute of the second half, Medeama SC had a penalty kick but striker Jonathan Sowah missed from 12 yards.

Courtesy of goals from Kennedy Musonda and Mudathir Yahya in the 61st and 66th minutes respectively, Young Africans cruised to a delightful 3-0 in at the end of the 90 minutes.

Unfortunately, Jonathan Sowah who missed Medeama SC's penalty was also sent off late in the game.

The defeat today sees Medeama SC dropping to third in Group D of the CAF Champions League.
