Kojo Yankah, a former chairman of the Western Regional Football Association has criticized the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku for causing disunity within the Ghana football community.

Mr Yankah believes that Mr Okraku's failure to foster unity has led to many individuals distancing themselves from Ghana football and hesitating to support his administration.

Yankah, who recently announced his intention to contest against Mr Okraku in the upcoming GFA elections, identified the lack of unity as one of the major reasons he aims to address if elected into office.

He intends to bring together all parties involved in Ghana football to work collectively for the betterment of the association.

Mr Yankah expressed his concern about a statement Mr Okraku made when he assumed office.

"When he was elected, he said something and a lot of the football people were not happy and up to now [they are still not happy]. He said he cannot work with his enemies and people are still not happy because of that people don’t even want to go to the FA," he said in an interview with Joy FM.

According to Yankah, this statement created dissatisfaction among football stakeholders, which still persists to this day.

"So that disunity is happening now. The love we used to have, we share things together, is no more. That is why we have to look at that particular problem to bring us back again,” he said.

In addition to Kojo Yankah, Bernard Amofa Jantuah, the CEO of Berekum Chelsea, has also declared his intention to contest for the presidency of the GFA.
