World Cup I am a Ghanaian - Asamoah Gyan blasts Ghanaians for criticizing his 2022 World Cup ambition
OCT 6, 2022 LISTEN

Ghana legend, Asamoah Gyan has taken a swipe at Ghanaians for criticizing his 2022 World Cup ambition.

The 37-year-old speaking to the BBC recently hinted at his possible return to the national team ahead of the Mundial despite being clubless for the past two years.

Gyan, who last played for the national team in 2019 during the Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Egypt was criticized and slammed for his comments on returning to the Black Stars.

However, the former Sunderland and Kayserispor forward speaking in an interview insisted he is a Ghanaian and can make the squad list for the global showpiece.

"I think I was misquoted with what I told the BBC but even if I said I want to return to Black Stars to play the World Cup, there is nothing wrong with that," he told Kumasi-based Kessben FM.

"I am a Ghanaian and I have not retired and I believe if I am fit, I can return to the Black Stars and I don't see anything wrong with that" he added.
